How do you string string or fishing line across your classroom without putting holes in the walls?

It's just too heavy for conventional sticky goo or staples, tacks won't hold, and anything larger is something our principal would really rather avoid.

I have some very thin rope that is perfect in appearance, but if I have to resort to fishing line, I'm happy to do so.

Does anyone have any solutions that have worked for them?

3M makes a product called command hooks available at Home Depot and local stores. They come in various sizes to hold different weights. They have an adhesive that leaves no marks on the walls. It comes off clean, and there's no need for holes in the wall

Have you ever used 3M hooks (tie the fishing lure to one hook then tie it off to the other one across the room) that have the sticky stuff on the back and when you want to remove them the sticky stuff doesnt stay. Look for them at department stores like Target.

If your walls are cinder block with a nice glossy paint you could just use hot glue. I laminate all my posters and hot glue them up on my walls at school. I've found it holds better than anything else. If you're not sure whether the paint would peel, try a spot first. Mine peels off clean.

You could tie it under the ceiling tiles.

But be careful, too many things hanging off the ceiling and on your walls will distract your kids with ADD or ADHD.

There are hooks available that attach to the framework for ceiling tile. They are used by business to hand signs for sales. They are awesome and work well.
