Neither of them are good. They both are resource hungry (i.e use lot of memory (RAM) and CPU power. Though they are top rated antivirus, they updating for new virus database is very slow (take a week time to find solution for virus outbreak, updated after 2 or 3 days) and scanning speed is slow.
Go for kaspersky . It is acknowledge to have best research centre for antivirus and they find solution for any virus outbreak within hours. and everyday they send new update to keep your computer virus free. Scanning good and use less resource.

Neither. If i were to choose from the 2, I would choose Norton, but I suggest to anyone to use AVG.

It's free, updates just about every day, and isn't bloated.
You can also do a search on google or elsewhere for 'free virus scan', as those don't require an install, but those also don't have scanners running on your system all the time, so you aren't protected that way at all.
Best of luck.

Just because they are the most known, doesn't mean they are the best, although they may work well for a novice user.
Paying for software (and especially monthly services for software) doesn't always make it better.
I've used Grisoft's free antivirus AVG for years, and had no complaints. Regular virus updates, easy to use, etc.

You have to pay for norton and mcaffee, every year.

For older system go with nod32, for a new system use kaspersky. Mcafee and symantec are both Huge resource hogs. Heck i'd recommend avast free antivirus before either mcafee or symantec.

In my opinion Norton is a memory hog!!! You can't really do anything while it is scanning. Go for Grisoft's AVG.

both of them are know for slowing down a computer. if i need to choose i'd go for norton, cos my parents had it once and it worked great.
however i think both kaspersky and nod32 are better than mcaffee and notor security

mcafee, hands down. norton embeds too deep in your registry, and can be impossible to remove should you need to.
