A 200 by a batsman in ODI cricket, all though looks like a mountain to climb, may be a reality with the present ODI rules. 20 overs of powerplay sure does facilitate very big scores as the world has already seen.
The person who has come closest to it Saeed Anwar of Pakistan (194 vs. India). Then you have Garry Kirsten, Sanath Jayasuriya, Sir Viv Richards etc. All are big hitters and all most all are openers (other than Viv of course).
So I beleive a 200 will be scored by an big hitting opener who has a great deal of stamina and strength. They are of course Hayden, Gilchrist, Jayasuriya, Smith etc.
It could be somebody else too, somebody who we'll never even think highly about. After all ODI cricket is a game of luck for most part.

It's ALREADY been done, although not in an international game.

Alistair Brown of Surrey scored 268 against Glamorgan, at the Oval in London, in 2002, which is a world record individual high score in ANY top grade one-day cricket. His huge score took just 160 balls and included 30 fours and 12 sixes.

Probably Ricky Ponting, Tendulkar, Dravid or Pietersen
They all got pretty good scores in on day cricket

Previously, I thought that record would be broken by the Jayasuriya. Now I cannot give that answer because he is too old now. He cannot play such a long inning.

My prediction is AB Devillers.

It is very difficult to predict whether any batsman will score 200 runs in a ODI match and if so who.

Well not any of the England cricket team, they are as useless a team as I have ever seen. They ought to give up cricket and play tiddly winks instead.
