You are using too much salt. Call your water softener provider and they will either give you the proper setting for water in your area or they will come out and make the adjustment for you if you are renting the machine.

It really, really, REALLY isn't normal for a dog to bite just because he's getting a bath. All my dogs hate baths. I have five dogs. NONE - not a SINGLE one - of them bite because they're getting a bath. They'll act a bit stressed, put their tail between their legs, and put their ears against their head. But they do NOT bite. Biting because a dog doesn't like something is a sign that the dog needs some serious training. Whether the people of YA agree with it or not. If you keep being "lol" about it, your grandma is going to get hurt one day. It is not something to "lol" over. Honestly, look into a trainer. I'm not trying to overreact, just saying that baths are obviously stressful for him. My dogs hate baths, too. I do not give them one unless they absolutely need it. No point stressing them out when they do not need a bath. That would be pointless. In the meantime, you could buy waterless shampoo or towels for dogs. All you do is wipe the dog down with it and it cleans them. No water, no fight. Also, stop saying the word "bath". He's learned what it means, obviously.

Yes, a water softener (conditioner) will make your water feel slippery.

And, actually, you are getting cleaner. Your skin feels slippery when it doesn't have soap and mineral residue on it. The softener helps the soap rinse off.

When it's operating properly, your water should be 100% soft. You cannot adjust it to be less soft. Too much salt usage will not make it too soft, only a waste of salt. The resin bed is what removes the minerals. The salt brine is used only to clean the resin bed so it can except more mineral. Yes, it makes you feel slick. The only way it can be made less soft is if you have a 3 valve bypass system. You can open the middle valve (normally closed)slightly..

You feel slippery because the water is very soft. Actually, it's something of an illusion. You are actually rinsed cleaner than ever before. The "slipperiness" is from the absence of minerals in the water.

It is the water softener. It's a weird feeling and I don't like it either. You can have your water conditioning company adjust your conditioner and make it more "normal".

Its the water softner. It makes the water feel like that. Its not that the soap is not rinsing or their is slime in the water.

Your water softener is way to high, readjust it to suit your purposes.
