For the fifth time today my six-year-old son, Daniel, asked me, “Mom, when is winter going to be here? I want it to snow.”
Trying to stay patient I replied back, “ I know you do dear but WHEN THE THUNDER IS CRASHING ABOVE US we only get rain. It won’t be long now.”
NOW I KNOW THAT I’VE been secretly wishing for the snow to stay away but I couldn’t help remembering how much I loved playing in the snow as a child. Daniel was no different. He loved building snowmen/women, forts, and tunnels just like I did. What child doesn’t?
A couple of weeks later the weather turned cold and the next thing I knew Daniel was jumping up and down screaming, “Mom, Mom, it’s snowing! It’s snowing.”
Needless to say he wanted to go out so I helped put on his boots, coat, hat and mitts and off he went.
As the days went by the snow continued. I thought it would never stop. Looking out the window, fed up with it already, because I wasn’t a child anymore, I said out loud, “Darn, I wish this wretched snow would go and never, ever, ever, come back.” I hadn’t realized Daniel was standing listening to my tone of voice and words.
“PLEASE TELL ME THE WORDS I NEVER SAID.” I thought quickly to myself, but I knew I had by the crushed look my son was giving me. I never realized how much he truly loved the snow until I saw the few tears trickle down his face.
“Oh Daniel,” I said hugging him, “I’m so sorry. I’m just tired. How about you playing with your toys for awhile, while I have a short nap then I’ll go out and play in the snow with you?” Daniel seemed pleased with that and off he went while I lay down.
I drifted off into a land of inter beauty. Beauty I had forgotten about. I walked through the sparkling snow where no one had walked yet. As I looked ahead of me I saw all kinds of snow creatures. Was I seeing things? Maybe they were snow mirages and the sparkling stuff had got to my eyes but as I got closer I realized they were real. There was a least a dozen-snow people and five small snow animals. They smiled at me as I stopped and gazed at each one of them.
“Hello.” Said the bigger snow person. Needless to say I was a little startled. Did I really here it talk?
“Hello.” He repeated.
Oh my gosh, I was hearing correctly.
“Hel hel hello,” I stammered back.
Each one of them was looking at me. I stood there realizing I had come across something very few people got to see.
In a far more excited voice I said, “LET ME KNOW THE WONDER OF ALL OF YOU” I couldn’t believe I was talking to snow people.
“Well,” started the one who had spoken first, “I’m Marcus, this is my wife Cindy, these ten wee ones are our children, and those five are our pets.”
“Oh, I’m so glad to meet you. I’m Marylyn. Can I stay for awhile?”
We al talked for ages but as the sun became brighter and it did seem a little warmer they all looked frightened. All of a sudden each one of them looked up at the sun and pleaded,
“WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME AND I BEGIN TO MELT I know my time is getting shorter here. Please don’t destroy us yet.”
It was like an individual little prayer asking for help. Then they all turned to me and continued, “ If you were TO HOLD ME AND TO HIDE ME in a frozen land I could live forever.”
It was another individual prayer only it came to me this time. What was I going to do? I couldn’t help and hold them all. My heart was breaking because I didn’t want to see them melt right before my eyes.
“Think!” I scolded myself.
What, what, what, do you want me to do?”
A little voice said, “Is it time to get up yet Mom?” There was Daniel looking down at me.
“Yes my dear. It’s time for us to go out and have some fun but let’s go sleighing. O.K?”
Daniel ran for his coat as I thought about my dream. I tried shaking it off but as foolish as it was, I wasn’t ready to build snowmen or happy creatures yet. I didn’t want to see them go but sliding with my son would be fun after all.

You make me sweat. The moisture in my body makes it steamy. So steamy that when the thunder is crashing up above, I know that you were the one who made me like this. You make the moisture roll from my lips to yours. You look at me and I begin to melt.

But wait you haven't told me anything about you. Let me know the wonder of all of you. I want to do the same to you. It's only fair. Your spirit can tell me the words I never said. The feeling is like none other. Now I know that I've found the one for me. Becoming one is what we can strive for, but never to hold and hide me for we both can do great things in this vast universe.

I apologize my entry was more like poetry; that's not exactly what you asked for.

Now I know that the SEC is coming down to investigate our financial transactions I have but one thing to ask of you my dear stock broker. "To hold me and to hide me."
"Now I know that I've" been investigated as a yet unnamed accomplice it is only a matter of time before I too am in Federal custody.
"Tell me the words I've never said" like, please hand me another bar of soap, I don't want to pick that one up Ramon.
As my future cellmates eye me walking down the catwalk of the prison and say "Let me know the wonder of all of you," I hope this financial tomfoolery was worth it!
"When the thunder is crashing above", I can only hope it muffles my screams as I become better acquainted with the high bidder of my favors. I can only imagine that I will be forced to roleplay for the hulking inmate and I will be made to say "You look at me and I begin to melt."
Here is wishing you an even meaner cellmate with mine as a payback for your "this can't possibly fail" get rich quick scheme.

"I just want you to hold me and to hide me," Maxine whispered to Jerry as they cuddled in the back of the bus. Maxine and Jerry were part of a jazz quintet. They traveled from one gig to another in the back of an old Greyhound bus, working at night, sometimes until two or three in the morning, and then sleeping as dawn gathered on their way to the next job.

The group got to know each other intimately living together in such close quarters, especially Jerry and Maxine. They ate, lived, slept together during the day, and then worked together each night. They also fulfilled each others' needs for love and comfort.

Maxine was the vocalist. She sang torch songs and standards. But she was the one who most needed verbal assurance. "Tell me the words I never said, " she would quietly beg Jerry, and Jerry would whisper soft and low to her as the bus made its way through the early morning hours on some two-lane highway.

Jerry was a former junky. He kicked the habit, and now wore white tee shirts onstage as he played his baritone sax, to demonstrate the absence of tracks on his arms. He covered his eyes with dark sunglasses, however, to mask the years of damage. He most needed physical demonstration of Maxine's love. The expression in her eyes as she gazed at him often supplied to him what he needed of her. "You look at me and I begin to melt."

The decrepit old bus was making its way back to Chicago, home base for the band. They were riding through a driving storm, in which, oddly, Jerry and Maxine found comfort. When the thunder is crashing up above, lovers hold each other tightly, as if to somehow shelter each other against elements more harmful than nature's.

Seven-thirty, and the Greyhound pulled into the parking lot where the band would disembark and disperse for a couple of weeks until the next tour. Jerry gave Maxine one last kiss, and told her, "I'm glad you've let me know the wonder of all of you, but that's going to make our time apart all that much worse. Now I know that I've got something to come back for, besides this life on the road with four other guys."

Maxine stood to gather her things, and gave Jerry one last, lingering hug. Then she stepped down from the bus and into the arms of Dan, her fiance. She gave Dan a half-hearted hug and said, "Not now, hon. I'm dead beat. Please just take me home so I can get some sleep."

Jerry watched as she walked away, Dan carrying her suitcase and make-up bag. He and the boys left their things on the bus for the time being, and headed across the street to Stevie's, a bar with morning hours for the third shift crowd.

U.S.Marshal Matt Dillon and Sunshine MacGillicutty finally made it back to Dodge. Being left for dead in the rapids and then being rescued and cared for by the Apache tribe had been very exciting and also very tiring. (To read the 4 PART STORY,

Upon their return, Matt insisted that Doc take a look at Sunshine.
Sunshine:"Don't forget to have him take a look at YOU too, babe. You took a nasty blow to the head:

Doc:" How did you two EVER make it out of those rapids?"
Matt: " (2) When the thunder is crashing up above you , and all around you, the will to live simply takes over, Doc. Tell me....How is Sunny's bullet wound?"
Doc :"They took good care of you, Sunshine. (5) Now I know that I've told you this before, but the Apaches in that area are all peaceful..... Good people. Do you remember what type of ointment they used on you?"
Sunshine:" No idea. All I know is that they treated us with kindness and respect. And that reminds me, Matt. We need to return the horses!"
Matt smiled......." We will. We will. Let's rest up a bit before we go back, though."
Doc: " So ....After all that happened....... Jess Colter is still on the loose?"
Matt:" Not for long, Doc. "

On their way home......."Matt, what you told Doc..... You are NOT going after him alone....You hear me??!!"
Matt smiled ......"You know..... (1) You look at me and I begin to melt, baby."
Sunshine: "Ohhhhhhhh, no you don't! I know what you're trying to do.... Won't work, mister. You did NOT answer me."
Matt :" (3) Tell me the words I never said, smartie."

They were still laughing when they entered their home. Their puppy and kitten were still at their nearest neighbor, being cared for.
Matt: " Hmmmmmm, the kids are out. What EVER will we do with all this free time?" Sunshine let out a shriek and beat him to the bedroom!!
The last words Matt uttered ...... "Oh, SunnyMac...... (4) Let me know the wonder of all of you."

Later as they lay there, happily exhausted, Sunshine looked over at Matt..... "Oh, baby.... (6) To hold me and to hide me in your love ...... That's all I'll ever need.

All of those tropes have been utilized in good memories besides as undesirable ones.
