Perhaps because christians won't take no for an answer...or maybe we remember how many people the christian church has had killed for having the temerity to believe something else....or because they refuse to accept that their religion is actually based on other, older, religions....
Actually, I have to say that I DON'T hate christians; I don't HATE anyone. Some christians do annoy me; but so do some non-christians. And I'm sorry to have to tell you that your prayer isn't going to be answered; there's at least ONE person who's never going to 'fall in love with Jesus'...me.

Personally, here's my take:
1) I grew up in a Christian family/community, so I'm tired of all the pressure I experienced to be "good"
2) I get tired of Christians who can't just accept that I'm happy the way I am-- I don't want to be "saved"!
3) I see a lot of Christians who are bent on "spreading the word" whose eyes are completely closed to the true sources of suffering in front of them. The simple truth is that believing in Jesus will not make a starving child forget about his empty stomach, and it will not put clothes on his back. I hate the hypocrisy that I see in Christians that go to 3rd-world countries and come back with their suitcases still full of clothing and money still in their wallets, having left suffering people behind without truly helping them.
4) I get more persecution from Christians than from any other religion, as well as from most other non-religious people because of my sexual orientation. I don't understand how someone can rest at night, knowing that they are affiliated with an organization that has a history of persecuting so many innocent people.
5) Many Christians I've been around believe that if you have enough faith, you will be at peace. Therefore, if you're not at peace, that means you're not working hard enough at having faith. In reality, that's a lot of hogwash. As a child and teen, I struggled for years, praying and fasting and reading the Bible, doing everything I felt God wanted me to do--but I was still scared and lonely and depressed. I thought those emotions were a sign that I was failing as a Christian. The reality? I was being abused by my (Christian) mother and suffering from clinical depression. And no, Jesus did not magically make my pain evaporate. Any progress I have made has been on my own, by my own sweat, blood, and tears.
In the end, I left Christianity because I don't think any kid or teen could try harder than I did at knowing, loving, and serving God. I gave God a lot of "second chances." I pushed away my own instincts that were telling me what I was being taught in church made no sense. What I got in return: my questions went unanswered, my pain went unhealed, and not a single Christian (and believe me, I was surrounded by them) stepped in to intervene.
So I don't hate Christians. But they remind me of past pain, and I feel like I have to walk on eggshells around them. Otherwise, they'll mark me a "sinner" and start telling me Bible verses I already know. So I don't particularly like the religion itself. And I don't understand its members. I have more peace as an agnostic than I ever did as a Christian, and I like to be left that way.
No offense. Just my personal view on the whole thing. Don't forget to spread some food and medical supplies along with the gospel, okay? My grandfather's a missionary, too.

Believe me right now. I am Catholic. I am also gay. By your standards, I am going against my religion. I don't believe that by being who I am, I am going to hell. Jesus and/or God loves all His children. Do I not count as I child of God? I was baptized into the Catholic Church. I do pray to God.
But the thing it is for me, at least, is that most Christians take the Bible and God's word, and the Church all too seriously. Alright, you love God and Jesus, and all his teachings. Good on you. I believe as well, but not so much as to go about and preach to others that their lifestyles and beliefs are wrong. That's what it is that gets to us.
We don't need anyone to tell us that what we're doing is wrong. Just the fact that most homophobic people use the Bible and that famous anti-homosexual scripture is tiring, and we've had enough of it. If Christians don't like what we're doing, well...to be blunt, **** 'em.
I do not have a problem with True believers. You were blessed by God to have such love and compassion for your religion, and your want all mankind to be blessed as well, and go to his kingdom in heaven. Not all signs point to Satan. We may be homosexuals, but keep this in mind. God created all mankind, therefore, made homosexuality and homosexuals. All that God has created is good. Ergo, we are good, just as you are.

People only dislike Christians (hate is such an ugly word) who insult them in some way. You certainly don't insult or belittle others or their beliefs, do you? Like, you don't plan on going to a foreign land and tell its people that they're ignorant fools for worshiping as they do, that their gods are false gods and that only your god is the one true god and that they're all doomed to burn in hell for all eternity if they don't immediately accept your beliefs and your religion, do you? Or pick and choose which Bible verses to believe in and stress, while insisting that it's all really the very word of God himself?
I'm sure you'll do well. Good luck, Godspeed, etc.

Perhaps since the time of the late roman empire when Christianity was declared the state religion, Christians have persecuted, tortured, and killed practically everyone who didn't share their beliefs? This included other Christians who had what we would consider absurdly small differences of opinion about doctrine. Perhaps killing hundreds of thousands of old women as witches, usually as a technique of stealing their property? Perhaps enslaving millions of Blacks and Indians in the name of Jesus. Perhaps burning at the stake hundreds of thousands of various people declared to be heretics. Perhaps invading countries, putting entrie populations to the sword, in the name of Jesus. Perhaps periodically slaughtering tens of thousands of Jews for the crime of being Jewish. Perhaps the arrogance of a religion that basically kidnapped a child from its parents (jewish) and never relented because a christian servant girl baptised the child. And this was in 1858. No, I can't think of any reasons at all. But I'll try

Allot of people do not hate Christians. Most of us probably grew up christian.
I have a small problem with just one part. The statement "true believers"
This implies that what you believe is the truth and the only truth. All other variations are incorrect.
There are so many different way to show your reverence to God and Jesus or whomever they may believe in .. who is to say that one is correct and the others are not.
From all the other perspective they are correct and your view is not correct.
That is the problem with all religions in my opinion. The lost the true message of Love everyone... and got all caught up in trying to make their religion different or better than the others.

The main reason why most religions will offend somebody is because they presuppose that all of humanity has the same origin as explained in their traditions, doctrine, and scripture. So, a nonbeliever, in the case of most religions, is a person who is ignorant or who won't accept the truth. People don't like being classified as wrong, even if its by the religious beliefs of others. And, of course, many of the people classified as wrong by a religion will turn around and classify their accusers as being wrong themselves. The fact that all of these disagreements stem from religious beliefs only worsens the outcome.

I think you are being intentionally naive. People don't hate Christians. More often than not, what you encounter is actually resentment of your behavior. You should respect others' beliefs instead of trying to shove your own down their throats. Plus, you present with a holier-than-thou attitude as you do it. People dislike YOU and since you wrap yourself up in a holy cloak you feel that it is directed at your religion.
The reason you've encountered more hostility now is because YOU ARE BEHAVING IN A DIFFERENT AND IGNORANT WAY.
Do a test and try to prove me wrong... hold on to your beliefs but stop shoving them at people... I promise you you will get a different result.
Edit: Why is this in the sexual orientation catagory? In retrospect, I regret answering this question at all because I always try to avoid feeding into ignorance.

SATAN? What do you mean, all signs point to Satan? What about the millions upon millions of people persecuted, tortured and KILLED by "Christians" over the last two thousand years? What about the myriad cultures destroyed by Missionaries who claimed to be doing the will of God? If anybody's doing Satan's bidding, sweetie, it's YOU!
(PS There is no Satan.)

i could care less what any ones religion is, just as i could care less what anyones sexuality is. The problem i have is when people try to force their beliefs on other people. Which you are doing because you want everyone to follow your belief system. the fact that you believe in jesus doesn't make people hate you, its how you try to force other people to follow you like sheep.
satan, i believe, is irrelevant in this equation.
