The manager of the Craft Shoppe bought some rug kits for $16

each, sold all but 6 of them for $22 each, and made a total profit

of $168. How many kits were originally bought?

It depends on the accounting method, but if you only charge the cost when the item is sold, the answer is

(total profit / (unit sale price - unit cost))+ leftover units

(168 / (22 - 16 ))+6



I'm sure you can take it from there.

His profit- $22- $16= $6 so he makes $6 profit for every kit
$168 / 6= 28 so he sold 28 kits at $6 profit per piece so that makes his $168 profit
Now it's just 28 kits sold+ 6 kits leftover= 34
He bought 34 kits originally
