You are Latino. So many countries are considered the Latin countries such as Cuba, Costa Rica all South America, Mexico, Dominican Republic. We are called so many things here in this country, and sometimes we are considered a white race, since we are not considered black. In alot of these countries as you know alot of people look black, and some look white like blonde hair and blue eyes white. Nice to talk to someone that has my last name. Your last name has been traced to the Aztec Indians from the Riviera Maya. I'm Spanish, Italian,Mexican, and white and everyone considers me Latina. Ok so be it, I don't care, and I know I could pass for just about anything. Take care.

I once knew this guy who spoke in a thick Irish accent, but was extremely oriental in appearance. He'd been born and raised in Dublin, and couldn't get over the stares and head turning he received here when he opened his mouth!! As for you, I wish I could help, but I'm as confused as you are! On applications of all kinds, they are always making a clear distinction between Hispanic and White Non-Hispanic (Caucasian).Hey, be whatever you want, and let someone try to tell you differently!

In the US census Hispanic is no longer considered a race which make things complicated. I'm in the same boat as you. Up until recently Latin American people were all considered white regardless of their actual blood. The evidence of this is in the National Baseball League. Black American players were not allowed into the Major League, only the ***** League as it was called. But there were many black Latino players in the NBL because they were considered not black. Most people born before the 60's or 70's in the US of Latin parentage were classified as white on their berth certificates. My grandfather was Mexican American but his birth certificate was labeled Spanish. My Godfather (Padrino) is listed as white on his son's birth certificate but he was clearly a Mexican citizen and relatively brown of skin. The answer is there is no answer.

You don't have to claim any race, if you don't want to. But according to you what you said in the US some people would consider you Hispanic. Just put down other, unless you're trying to get a scholarship or something.

You're hispanic/ latino.

Yes hispanic/ latin is a race, if it wasn't you guys wouldn't be able to claim racism against whites.

Make sense?
