The only people who don't have trouble with horse flies are the ones who buy fly predators every spring. Chickens in the pasture and manure pile help, too.

Endure has been mentioned and is the best we have tried. The flies go for the moisture in the horses eyes with a vengeance, so make sure you spray a cloth and rub a little on their faces. Don't try spraying around their faces, as all products warn against getting in their eyes. We went through three or four different fly masks, and the one that works the best is the most unsightly. I forgot the brand, but they are not as transparent as some, but fit over their ears and are snug. I think the fit is why the horses seem to forget they have them on. As for you, get Deet for yourself.

Stay away from discount brands like Bronco. Home remedies? Donst work. Endure is a good product, so is Pyranna and Happy Horse. And I agree, spray at least once a day. Dont believe the "Good for 7 day" thing. How long do good top of the line fly sprays work? Until the bottle is empty!

to end flies all mutually, possibly attempt procuring Spalding Fly Predators. they're small bugs that don't hardship you and your horses. basically unfold the little bugs around the place you keep your manure piles and that they lay eggs interior the horsefly larvae and kill them earlier they grow to be flies. My kin and that i've got had fulfillment with them! yet, in case you are able to not purchase fly Predators, i'd propose Piranha fly spray or a fly sheet. Or for inexpensive pretend tail, braid the genuine tail, and braid Binder cord so its down from the genuine tail. (that's how we made our Mare comfortable after a steer ate the hair off of her tail...)

buy fly spray that works against biting flies too. I try to put my horses out early in the morning and later in the evening when the flies aren't as bad.

get Bite Free or Endure and spray down your horse twice a day for 3 days then every other day for a week then weekly there after.

If you wash your horse, start over.

It runs about $19 USD a bottle, but the stuff works great to repel flies.

Use flyspray and squish them when you can, don't just knock them off because you can stun them then they get up again. I have to take antihistamines because I'm allergic to them and I ended up in the hospital once with a violent reaction.

I hate horseflies, they are so annoying, every time I go out it seems like I am getting bitten by them. Unfortuantely I don't know what can be done for your equine friends either, sorry. Best of wishes.
