There is a church in Ethopia that claims to have it although they won't let anyone see it.
Other Speculation: Some say the the Freemasons have it.
I'm pretty sure as a group they don't.
The Vatican is one of the best guarded
places in the world could be a vault
there.
It could have been melted down by
Muslims (just like Christians
destroyed pagan relics)
There is a fuuny adventure movie called "The Librarian" that says the New York Public Library has it.

I have herad all the theories and the sense I get is that the gold was melted down/off of it as the legends say. But the wood was left over a bit charred and useless of course, but when something has power and that power was used over and over again, every little piece of it retains that smidgen of power. So I think someone-ethiopia probably-has some of the original wood put back together with some new wood therefore making a new Ark-like what they did for the Herod's Temple. They may have it , but it won't work to full capacity::sighs::ahh the Good Ole' Days...

If I knew that, I'd either be rich, dead, or somewhere where I'd probably wish i was dead rather than being there.
That really is a question that has been asked since the high Priest first went into the Holy of Holies and realized that it was empty...

It's in Egypt in the care of those who know it's powers and place in history, who speak the words Islam expects of them but follow older paths.

The original was long since melted down for the metal.
Edit:
The gold is probably in teeth fillings now.

some claim it's in axum in ethiopia.
others claim it's buried under temple mount in jerusalem.
others claim it's in the judean desert
some even claim it was taken to the USA by the masons who are the preservers of solomon's lore.
