I would like some good ideas for decorating a lamp. I have some ideas of my own, but I would like to hear some other ideas too. Thanks for any suggestions.

Kacky: My ideas are to:
-punch holes in the bottom and thread a ribbon throught it or hang bells from it.
-stick on various shapes of craft foam

Those are good ideas. You could also punch holes around the top and put tassels on. Or run a ribbon from top to bottom with a tassel on the end of each ribbon.
Or you could glue on some flowers cut from fabric.
Or buy some trims and glue them around the top and bottom. Fabric stores have lots of pretty trims.

Use sheets from your bedding and make a shade cover for the lamp using elastic to gather the fabric up at top and bottom.
Wall paper boarder can be used and glued onto the shade.
Use a hot glue gun and add fringe feathers beads.
Another great idea is to make shapes punching holes in the frame so when the lite is on lite shines through the holes.

If you want a beach look, you can hot glue a bunch of shells onto it.
Or you can just cover the whole lamp in material (any color you'd like) and then hot glue some matching beads or pearls around the bottom of the shade.

Painting :) i love acrylics
you could do stencils
or just freehand a "pattern"
that way you can match the colors to the rest of the room :)
or glue on buttons or rhinestones, flowers, charms, beads...
you could do bead or charms on ribbon that you string through
you could just hang scarfs over it
look up pictures of cool lamps, and think of ways that you could make something similar

you could also get colored magazine papers and do a collage type deal on it. with a varnish on top to make it shiny

A couple of friends of mine did not have much money so they got white lamp shades and white sheets for curtains They painted their hands and pressed them on the shades and paint on their feet and walked up and down the sheets.. Looked good.

I have put glass beads and droplets on my lampshade and they look nice when light is on ,they give off a classy shimmer
