I've noticed that the women on CNN and FOX are starting to look like an America's Top Model contestant...no complaints, just asking.

Yes they do. Otherwise who is going to watch them? Think Rosie O'Donnell would be popular on prime time TV? Hell no, fat ugly women work daytime TV, hot mommas work national prime time showz and sporting eventz.

We want hot. Want ugly fat white women? Walk around a Wal-Mart for a while.

There's a new reality show coming out this month called "Anchorwoman," and it was a huge controversy in media circles.

It stars a former Price Is Right model / pro wrestling bikini babe who has NO journalism experience. She gets a job at an East Texas news station as a reporter / 5 o'clock anchor.

Everyone in media was up in arms b/c this show basically glorifies the busty, no-talent ideal of today's news anchors.

Really, almost all they ever do is read off of a teleprompter!

This is what the president of the Society of Professional Journalists had to say:

"At the risk of sounding like the ugly step-sister who went into newspaper writing because she didn't have the face or body for TV, I am increasingly angered and frustrated by stunts such as this. They are insulting to the general public, which appreciates thoughtful debate far more than this shameless pandering. They are insulting to journalists who, though imperfect, work darned hard every day to deliver the news accurately, ethically, responsibly -- and often for little pay under very difficult circumstances. I would be delighted to discuss with you the various issues "Anchorwoman" raises for journalists and responsible journalism at http://spj.org/blog/blogs/president."

- Christine Tatum, National President, Society of Professional Journalists (in response to an article in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram).

I'll be honest with you..and I know its probably just my bias, but I tend to take a super-model looking reporter less serious that an average looking one..probably because I assume that the beautiful one has spent more time in front of the mirror and the less beautiful one spend more time studying and researching...I tend to pay more attantion to the news and less attention to the person when they re not so spectacular looking...

Thank goodness! No complaints here! I'd rather get all the bad news from someone that is pleasant to the eyes than someone that is plain or fugly. (Fat and ugly) It's similar to Hooters gals and hotel front desk clerks, attractive sells!

Let me rephrase your question; How many "plain" or "less than attractive Women" -turn up as news anchors on TV ,-PERIOD??? Of course us GUYS aren't going to "complain". -But I'll bet there are a lot of WOMEN out there- who might have some "choice words" about it! :)

I think they have to be attractive, but Katie Couric isn't a super model. So, no I don't think they have to look like super-models.

Yes. It's the law. One of the few good one's governing network news.

(Is it okay to peddle swamp land here?).

Yes, because they represent the network. They are all intelligent, too.
