When I was 32 I had a 20-year old boyfriend (I had thought he was older) BUT it didn't take me too long to realise that we really had nothing in common to sustain a conversation, let alone a relationship, and so for me the physical attraction, whilst strong, was not enough. I would say that there is a huge difference even between a 16-year old and a 20-year old. I know I would never have started a relationship with a 16-year old and wonder what on earth a 31-year old woman thinks she is doing with a boy who surely can't even be independent yet. May I also add that if this were a clandestine relationship, then I would be very worried.

that is rather a large gap but i understand you can legally marry at 16 but only with your parents permission, also you can legally make love at 16. at 18, you can marry without your parents permission. (i dont know if you intend to marry her) if you were any younger than 16 then it would be a definate no.i also read somewhere that a boy/man can make love at any age but would be breaking the law if she was under age. (no possibility of that here.) incidendally, when prince charles married diana, there was a 12 year age gap between them and no-one batted an eyelid about it.

Like all relationships, it comes down to personalities. It sounds condescending to say you are very young and you might be very mature. I would be surprised if it lasted the course but stranger things have happened. Usually the older you get the less of a problem the age gap is and that's due to life experience.

Not really, If you were a bit older. But what can you genuinely have in common? Make sure you're not thinking with your dick.
Note to our American friends:
The age of legal consent in the UK and much of Europe is 16. Let's go easy with the paedophile comments. it's a vile and disgusting remark to make and should not be used lightly. This chap may be in the UK where no criminal offence is being committed.

Yes. It's kinda creepy for a 16 year old to be dating a 31 year old.

Since you asked, yes. Even discounting the differences in emotional maturity and life experiences between the two of you, there is the consideration that if the relationship were to get physical (i.e. you were to have sex with her), she would be guilty of statutory rape. Whether you agree with the law or not, she could be held on charges.
You have only two years to go before you are "legal". If the two of you are in love, I would suggest you wait that two years for both your protection and hers.

If she's almost old enough to be your mum then yes - especially when you are so young. If you were 22 and she was 37 not so bad but find someone nearer your own age.
