Yes I do get really offended when somebody tells me to shutup. I find that people who say 'shutup' are rude and very impolite! So I just tell them to 'shutup' back.

Not if I was blathering on, or interupting or hogging the conversation, I wouldn't (and haven't - I've been told more than once!) have minded.
But if I am just expressing an opinion that someone doesn't like, then yes I would be offended.

Definitely. I can respect that someone wants me to be quiet, but there are nicer ways of saying it than "shut it." You know? Such as: "Shhh...please" or stating the reason I need to be quiet, like "The baby's sleeping." Not, "Shut up, the baby's sleeping." I don't care what kind of mood a person's in. Nobody deserves to be told to shut up right off of the bat. If I was really being a jerk, being told to shut up would be justified, but I'm not really ever a jerk, so it's not O.K.

Not if its just friends joking around. But Yes, if someone says Shut Up to me and they're not joking, then I'm offended.

It really depends on the context. If it's one of my goofy friends and we are having a good time not at all.
