when i know its going to get real hot out i open all the windows at night and then close them in the day time and shut the drapes to keep the sun from heating up the house

even though its 95 out here today its about 78 in my house because i do that , and i have no a/c other then in my bedroom

my parents leave their windows open most all the time and their house today is 84

do you mean if air conditioning is not available? good question. in my area (Cincinnati, OH) there is a HEAT Emergency & a SMOG Alert right now & will be for the coming days... in that case i'd think it's best to keep 'em shut during the day & maybe open them at night when the air is cooler.

It is 99 degrees where I live and it is hit! I don't think that it is normal for it to be 99 degrees in Pennsylvania.
