woudl you tell the truth in this case?

Let's say you receive an item in an immoral way (picking it off the ground or betting for it). If someone asked you how you got it, would you tell them how actually got it or give another reason?

If you find something on the ground that's not immoral unless it's a purse or wallet,then you look for ID.Lying is never an option

I don't understand the immoral part, betting on something isn't illegal is it? If I found a wallet laying on the ground and it had a large sum of money in it of course I would turn it over to the authorities but if I found a fiver I'd stick it my pocket and buy myself an ice cream cone.

At my age, it's much easier to remember the truth than all the details of a lie. So, "I found it" works, so does, "I won it".
