I do prefer sun dried as they have a lovely smell but then i stick them in the tumble dryer to get them soft

I do Both - put the towels on the line to dry till they are only partially damp (that way get the nice "dried outside" smell) and then tumble dry so they are fluffy.

tumble because if u put em out in the sun to dry they get all tough so basically theyre not as soft as the tumble dried ones.

Sun dried as I hang all of our things out on the line! They smell nice and they are soooo soft!

tumble dried towels end up softer so i prefer that, but you don't get the fresh outdoor smell on them, which is the only drawback.
