Well put.

The United States is the only industrialized nation that does not guarantee access to health care as a right of citizenship. 28 industrialized nations have single payer universal health care systems.

Apparently, all these folks posting things like "I buy my own guns and ammo" don't realize they're ALREADY paying the bill for the uninsured...

One is in the Bill of Rights, the other isn't.

I've bought my own guns, and bought my own health care insurance and both work just fine.

I see where you are going with this though. By your own logic, if everyone's heath care was "bought" by the government, that would also mean they would have to buy everyone a gun.

Newsflash:

Health care is not a right, nor is a comfortable home, good food to eat, warm clothes, or any other material possession. We live in a free enterprise system, which means that goods and services, including health care, are driven by market forces.

OTOH, the ownership of firearms is a right that is clearly outlined in the second amendment. The reason it was deemed important enough to codify (second only to our right to free speech) is so that "the people", in addition to their basic right of self preservation and defense, will ultimately have the means to defend themselves from an evil government gone awry.

Sorry if these concepts are to difficult for you to understand.

The Constitutional right to own a hand gun was created way, way, way, way, before health care was even thought of. Quality health insurance is a privilage, not a Constitutional right.

Have you read the US Constitution lately?

Owning weapons is specifically addressed in the 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights.

Which part of the Constitution is the right to quality health care referenced? You'll noticed Food and shelter are not referenced either.

Also notice that just because you have the right, doesn't mean the gov't has to provide it. The gov't hasn't provided me with a gun.

Check out the Bill of Rights.

Our Forefathers saw the need of protecting ourselves as more important than playing mommy to the entire nation.

Americans DO have a right to quality healthcare. But neither guns NOR healthcare should be given away.

Many folks today want everything handed to them, and not have to work for anything.

It IS NOT the government's job to provide healthcare. In fact do some research into Socialized Healthcare systems in Europe and Canada. Its free, but is it acceptable quality? Is it acceptable that people die waiting for government agencies to approve their applications to recieve life-saving procedures? Do you know what standing in the line at the DMV feels like? Well imagine that but your life depended on it and instead of being able to yell at the dumb woman behind the counter, you are on a 1-800 number at the mercy of a little automated lady-menu-thing.

If you nationalize healthcare then taxes are going to rise substantially and insurance rates are going to go through the roof. Ulitmately NO ONE will have the option but to rely on government subsidized healthcare and people like me who were willing to sacrafice the few extra dollars a month for insurance so that I could choose my healthcare options are going to be forced to ride the same boat as everyone else.

Why not leave taxes where they are and perhaps even lower them so that people will have the extra money to take responsibility for themselves and put it toward healthcare. I guarantee you that these people who scream for the government to pay for their healthcare will just as soon turn around and buy a new X-Box or get their nails done. You can afford to do all that but you can't spend the money to take care of your health????

Because the 2nd Amendment tells us we are free to own guns...

If you are worried about your health care then take these steps to correct it

1.) Get a Job
2.) save money to pay for your medical expenses
3.)start living a healthier lifestyle to reduce the amount of medical attention needed.

That should help you with your worries.

Quality health care is available. It's a privilege, and an expense that so many are not willing to pay for . . . why should everyone else have to pay for it?!?
