I have a 500GB SATA hard drive. i was sure to buy a compatible casing to make it external. i plugged it in. it installed the hardware perfectly. the only problem is... it won't show under my computer! this makes it completely useless to me; i can't access it. what do i do?

i'm running windows xp professional. i plugged it in, and there was an error in the installation. however, i read on this site on someone else's question that you could uninstall it then install it again. so i did, i restarted and plugged it in again. this time it installed correctly, except that the PC won't recognize the drive. this has been happening consistently. aargh! i NEED that drive to work really badly. help!? please?

you might just have to activate this drive from control panel if it keeps doing this. or see if you see small icon pop up when you plug it in USB.
