I just think when a tragedy is this bizzare, you have to think outside the box for a cause.

I think you have to think about terrorisim. I'm not labeling every tragedy terrorism, but i would start by looking at the signs.

Noah Kunin : Why the hell is he on the news saying he "lives closer to the bridge than anyone in MN, he's blogging and reporting on all stations a perfected story...not judging him, could be a hero, could be distracting.

Number two, the maintance workers weren't working on the actual structure of the bridge, just the pavement. however we need to find out if they were usuing large equipment, factor the heat, and the traffic etc.

But still, a bridge of 40 years doesn't fall like that, at least like a pancake...

Twin cities....twin towers (probably a big stretch/coincidence)

However, what scares me is the fact that most attacks or attempted ones in our country have inside workers (la guradia..security guys affiliated with al q)

could maintance worker

workers have had a play in this?

think about the high concentration of muslims in michigan/northern minneosota, the rumored attack that was foiled in michigan.

bottom line is it's easy to say construction, but that's the brilliance of terrorists, they go after things like this, where it seems obvious it isin't terror.

rush hour traffic, possiblity of over 100 cars into the water...drowning...

think about it

MINNEAPOLIS — The entire span of an interstate bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River during evening rush hour yesterday, sending vehicles, tons of concrete and twisted metal crashing into the water.

The Interstate 35W bridge, which stretches between Minneapolis and St. Paul, was in the midst of being repaired when it broke into several huge sections.

The Homeland Security Department had received no indications last night that the collapse was related to an act of terrorism, said department spokesman Russ Knocke.

"We continue to monitor the situation. At this time, there's no indication of a nexus to terrorism," Mr. Knocke said.

It was not clear how many people were injured. WCCO-AM reported that one body was seen being pulled from the area, covered with a blue sheet.

A burning truck and a school bus clung to one slanted slab, while at least eight cars and a truck were submerged in the river.

The bus had just crossed the bridge before it crumpled into pieces, and broadcast reports indicated the children on the bus exited out the back door.

Ramon Houge told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that he was on his way home from work on the bridge when heard a rumbling noise, saw the ground collapse and cars go down.

What is the point in attacking a bridge?

None.

Alls it's going to do is slow traffic up and create a detour to another bridge.

The maintenance workers are probably feeling awful about this right now.

And what do you mean 'A bridge doesn't fall like that'? Do they have video of it collapsing? How is a bridge supposed to fall? Upwards instead of downwards?

It was a very old bridge that needed to be replaced a long time ago, factor in the bumper to bumper traffic and the fact that the bridge really had no supporting beams, it was an accident.

Edit: Why didn't they do it to the a really big bridge in Washington where they could possibly take out a congressman?

There are a whole lot easier ways to kill 7 people in the name of terrorism.

It wasn't a terrorist attack. It was a failure to stop the problem before it got out of hand....and it got out of hand.

There is no need to consider Terrorism. Here is one answer I found:

To whom it may concern:

I will get right to the point. I think I know what caused the Interstate 35W bridge to collapse...

Resonance.

This is not unprecedented. In 1940 the Tacoma Narrows Bridge collapsed for a physically similar reason though it was a different type. Please see the movie at this link.

The fault lies with the design in which regions of support or flexing joints are evenly spaced instead of staggered.

This is consistent with the simultaneous breaking into equal sections, and with eyewitness reports of vibrations, and up and down movements. All of these relate to oscillations of standing wave patterns. One witness identified the vibration as driven by a jackhammer. Resonance can amplify modest vibrations.

there are more and more theories going around the net that this is a terrorist attack and that it was just a trial run. remember the terror alerts a couple of weeks ago stating that the terrorists were conducting trial runs ? a lot of ppl think that its being covered up or downplayed as if it gets out its a terrorist trial run preparing for bigger things that the american ppl will panic and that it could affect the election and the war in iraq....i don't know but it all seems just a little too coincidental to me. you wouldn't have to blow up any supports just weaken them and gravity would do the rest. hopefully the facts will come out.

I know someone who travels the bridge daily. He missed the collapse by 5 minutes. The day before when he was stuck in traffic on the bridge, he could feel the vibrations from all the jack hammer equipment in his car. He said it was a very eerie feeling. It makes me wonder if the bridge couldn't take all that vibration and maybe the heat? I'm certainly not blaming the construction crew.

fatherland secure practices, close by businesses, and the FBI are in certainty thinking terrorism. yet as of suitable now there are no longer any indications that it replaced into something different than a structural failure. each tale i've got examine has pronounced that terrorism replaced into considered as a a risk reason, yet given a low risk based on the data of the area. i assume it is likewise a risk that God himself struck down that bridge, notwithstanding it is not possibly and is subsequently no longer getting plenty interior the way of point out. there is not any reason to create a panic once you haven't any longer something to base it on yet idle conjecture approximately a risk motives.

What troubles me most about the bridge collapse is this. For a very long time in America, the upkeep of many structures have been put aside until something of this nature happens. ( that is a well known fact). Our government has re-directed it's financial obligations to this country so often that our structures are forgotten unless they last until their age of antiquity, then they are restored for preservation and a financial gain to honor the architect. I could say more, but enough for now.

You want to hear it from the horses mouth, you won't believe it of course because you don't want to, you and all the others want to think something bizarre and unusual happen down there.

Those construction workers were my son-in-laws crew, they're were on the bridge when it happen, nothing unusual was going on, nothing sinister.
The bridge simply wasn't able to withstand the traffic like it's been over the years, bumper to bumper.

Stress, heat, to many vehicles, shoddy checks that were overlooking certain aspects of the cracks and stress lines, that's all there was to it, you have a catastrophe on your hands.

Hmmmm, interesting logic. Or you could look at it another way,. 40 year old bridge, rusty old weakening, needs repair. The hottest time of the year. Bumper to bumper traffic. Bridge being jack hammered and who knows what else. Yea, construction that was taking place may have contributed to the collapse but In my personal opinion it wasnt terrorists. Heck, terrorists like to claim that they did things, they just wouldnt say, blow up a barn silo and be quiet about it. Then why would we even pay attention to them ?
