I kinda have an idea about why he didn't do it, and can anyone explain why he then decided to be in Diamonds Are Forever, which wasn't as good story wise?

actually he inntially retired before Majesty's

and Roger Moore was busy with other things so they couldnt cast him yet.

So they broight in a no name actor for what turned out a one time shot at james bond.

Soon after it came out, Connery was talked into i think 2 more films. One was Diamonds are forever. not sure the other

Then he retired till a return in "Never Say Never again" nearly 20 years after.

He is retired and does not wish to make any more films.
He was offered a huge amount of cash for Indy 4 and declined. He said if any film would bring him out of retirement it would have been Indy 4.
I worry that he has bad health and dont want to tell the public.
