"Peak Oil" means that we are beginning to use more oil than is being discovered. Consequently, prices of all things depending on oil are increasing very rapidly. There is consensus among experts for the past 40 years. Is this information being systematically surpressed? Why don't we see stories on FOX news?

Actually "peak oil" means there's no way to make any more oil. No matter how many holes we punch in the ground there isn't more oil...just more straws in in ground. The correct term is "The Hubbert Oil Production Curve" which is shaped like a Bell...like virtually all naturally occurring curves. Guess which side of the Bell Curve worldwide oil production is on? The "peak" is the top of the curve...it was on December 16th 2005.

90% of what is left is in the Middle East in the region from the Caucasus to North Africa. 60% of that is in...IRAQ.

Yes there may be more undiscovered reserves but most of those are very deep and difficult (expensive) to produce from. For instance "oil shale" has been a pipe dream for 30 years but the energy net is almost zero from this source. It takes nearly as much energy to produce as you get out of it.

"Alternative" fuels (Bio-fuels etc.) have been known since the Nazis did extensive research and development on it during the 1930's. If this was a viable alternative we would have run towards it in the 1970's when US production "peaked". Same problem as Oil Shale...nearly a zero net.

Hmmm...wonder how many of the "thumbs downers" have a degree in Physics? Add Biology and Chemistry and you will be as qualified as I...so STFU

Because they hoping to find more. But with the Russians today putting a flag 4000mts below the north pole, because they may be oil down there. It doesn't matter if they was, they couldn't get it out anyway.

I think they will be a sharp fall in production soon. The Saudi's are secretive about their reserves, maybe to government know more, hence Iraq!!!

The main reason is because the expert have always been shown to be wrong. They keep pushing the date out as new fields and technology are developed.
