Its not dangerous unless you make it that way. Make your profile private this way only people you add as your friend can view your profile. Also, make sure you dont put any personal information on there. Ive had my myspace for 3 years and ive never had any problems

Places like Myspace are value-neutral; that is, they aren't inherently safe or dangerous. If you don't want to be at risk of identity theft or predatory activity, make sure your profile is set to "private" so that only people you add as friends on Myspace can see it. Don't post personal ID information, no matter who can see your profile. Don't engage in conversation with strangers, don't join their little webcam groups, don't add people as friends that you've never met in real life. Anyone can be ANYONE on the Internet, and you have to take responsibility for your own safety. Unless you know them in real life, they could be lying about their identity. If you aren't comfortable with the idea of your friends posting pictures of you on their profiles, ask them not to. (Especially embarrassing ones.)

Remember that everything is very public on the Internet, and anything you say can be interpreted by others to mean anything they want. Don't use Myspace blogs as your personal diary to vent/gossip about others. Even if your profile is "private", those who can access it can pass such information on to others. Keep your private thoughts under your mattress, like the good ol' days.

Myspace can be a neat and fun way to keep in touch with friends and family. Just use common sense and responsibility, and you'll be fine!

There are a lot of people with myspace accounts that are fake. Some are there to lure after young children or con other people. If you'd rather meet new people in-person and in public, your best bet is to stay away from myspace. It has been the center of many disturbing incidents with young children. You don't want to get caught in the middle of any kind of drama with the people who use myspace. Best of luck!!!

myspace isnt dangerous if you make smart decisions, like making ur profile private and only accept friend requests from people you know, etc., etc.

it's only a risk if you put lots of personal information on there, like your age and exactly where you live, and if you don't set your profile to private. just be smart about the info you put on there, and you should be fine. just be careful!

as long as you don't act like a dumbass, set your profile to private, and only add people you know personally and the band pages in the music section
