Hairspray, and not because Zac Efron is in it, I think the music is much better and it has a better plot. The Broadway production's better tho.

HSM is overrated. I just watched the original Hairspray movie 2 days ago ( Before It was turned into a musical) and it was good. I know that the newest one will be better because I love musicals.

Hairspray. See, hairspray actually dealt with the issues of teen-age discrimination's based on physical differences. So for me, it shows more realism than does the other movie in question. Although I must confess that the original play of Hairspray was better. So is the original sound track and sound score too in my opinion.

Better than anything, I like people who have the courtesy and common sense to type their questions in all lowercase letters, except where uppercase letters are actually needed. Your question should have read: Do you like "High School Musical" or "Hairspray" better? And Zac Efron's first and last names require capital letters as shown.

You can't even compare them!! Hairspray is waaaaaaaay better. HSM was cheesy (remember when Gabriela looks at the camera directly at one point when she does a solo?) and Hairspray contained many Oscar nominees and deals with real problems we once had. Hairspray reaches a broaader audience while HSM is for elementary schoolers.

I liked Hairspray alot better. Highschool Musical was boring, and kind of little kid-ish.
