New to having a computer. Is it quality????? I'm gonna be copying some pics from a friends computer onto a thumbdrive, but got confused at all the different prices. No one was around to help me at the time. Also, which would be better to copy to, thumbdrive or disc? I have an HP Pavilion.

If you have a DVD writer, get a DVD+/- RW disc. You can reuse it and it will hold up to 4.7 gb. A 4 gb thumb drive is like 50+ dollars. Use the DVD first. If no DVD writer, get a thumb drive and the pirce is usually different because of capacity but some brands, such as SanDisk, are just more expensive because of the name. Kind of like Nike shoes being 150 dollars and Avia being 60.

Three Factors:
Size, Quality, Package

Size is just how much u can fit. Of course an 8GB flash drive will be more expensive than a 256MB one (256mb=0.256gb)

Quality is usually based on the brand name. A Sandisk or PNY flash drive would probably be more expensive than like a Staples no-name one. I've had badluck with no-name drives, so in other cases i would say otherwise, with flash drives i'd say GET the name brand one. Preferably Sandisk, PNY, HP, Corsair, PQI, Supertalent, Kingston, Crucial, or OCZ.

Package is usually the size of the flashdrive. Smaller is usually more expensive, and this matters the LEAST.

If you wanna transfer files, use a flash drive, because a disc may not be re-writable, and re-writing too much on discs can kill it. Also discs take a long time to write too, and much more work.

A Flash drive is like a giant disk drive in 1/10 the size.

More than likely the memory. If it is the same capacity, choose the cheaper one. Memory pretty much is all the same (except that it has been getting steadily cheaper). Thumb drives are usually by nature rewritable. Most CD's are now but thumb drives are static (no moving parts). Rule of thumb (no pun intended) pick the one with no moving parts.

The difference is the memory availability. Some carry half a gig which is 512MB and some carry 1 gig which is 1024MB and go even higher memory like up to 10GB.

Hi. If the memory capacity is the same go with a less expensive one. It will work or not when you first try it. Just make sure you can return it.
