depends on what security package you have... see if there is an icon in the tray in the bottom right hand corner of the screen for your security.
if there is, then right click on it and hit idsable. when you want to turn in on again, right click and hit enable.
if there is not an icon in the tray, go onto the start menu and programmes. find your security package, and click on it. open the virus protector and click disable. do the same to enable.
hope this helps.

Most anti-viruses have disable button from right clicking on their icon in the tray (where the clock is).
Others, you must exit the software.
However that's not recommended, why would you do that?!
If the software is disturbing you with its pop ups for virus notification try to disable that for that certain virus, or change your anti-virus.
AVG Anti-virus is free and works good.

Double click the icon on your bottom toolbar, open the "security centre" - or however your provider describes it, and turn the item you want to off. Alternatively you can do this through Control Panel. I would strongly advise you not to do this however - unless Windows has asked you to - even then, ensure you have no Spyware, Trojan Horses or aggressive cookies on your system - do a virus scan first, and if possible disconnect from the internet entirely first.

There is normally an Icon in the lower right bottom of the screen and this will open the Utility to that program and almost all have the option to disable them.

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.
i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.
besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.
download firefox for free, Just have a try:
