i just saw on tv, tourists from taiwan including an american school teacher arrested for after buying marijuana. drug laws in the philippines are quite stringent with the death as the ultimate penalty. although the death penalty was set aside a few years ago, philppine jail experience can be worst than death. think about it.**

Well, to correct a few misconceptions, although the disembarkation card says Death to Traffickers, the death penalty has been done away with. Yes, the the drug laws are harsh here, but rarely enforced.
On the other hand, if you happen to be one of the people that do get caught, you'd never forget your jail time. Oh - and before the jail, your picture would wind up on the first few pages of the local newspapers dressed in a yellow shirt marked "detainee" and the police pointing at you.
Seriously, unless you're Chinese, you don't stand a chance. The Chinese embassy takes care of their own.

Drug Laws applies to drug dealers, drug pushers and drug users.
Drug Dealers gets the highest penalty, as a drug user and as a tourist you need to be deported and banned for entering the Philippines again. And you need to fined some amount and maybe serve a short number of days/month in prison while your case is being on trial.
Offering the cops for cash won't work especially for a tourist.
You need to have at least a Big Fish backing your back.
I work for PDEA before so beware I might put you in immigration watch list of potential drug trafficker or user.

I would say that the drug laws in the philippines are a little bit harsh. a little because if they don't catch you then you won't be punished. If they catch you in the other hand you will have a really bad punishment. And yes if you go to places where it is sold then you could get it easily. And their is no legal drugs in the philppines. all are illegal drugs. If you get caught you'll go to jail and pay a fine. And yes you can get off by offering cops a cash, but if you're offering a cash be sure that the cop likes to have money. because if you don't then you'll have a long time in prison. I suggest that you buy some in US. Don't make my country dirty.
PHILIPPINES IS NOT LIKE US WHERE THEY THINK ILLEGAL DRUGS CAN BE USED AS A "RECREATIONAL DRUG"

No! not really. Not like Singapore and Indonesia. Here drug traffickers are protected by high ranking government officials. Drug traffickers can come and go any time they want to. Even if they are in prison in Camp Crame, they can still make their way out. If the drug pusher is protected by high ranking government officials, they will be in jailed for a month only and after that they can go back to business.

All drugs are very easy to get and cheap if you know someone. The police are extremely firm. A quickie bribe won't work. The Republic law is harsh and permanent. You don't want to even see one of their jails.
I don't recommend importing or trying to buy off the streets. You will just get robbed or worse.
Also we don't especially want someone with your attitude here so why not try Jamaica. Best in the world and legal.
God Bless!

If, as a Foreigner, you intend to purchase, use or sell illegal drugs for 'recreational use' then I suggest that you should visit one of the local jails prior to any such commencement. If what you see isn't enough to turn you around than all I can say is "you have been warned"

You can get off the hook so quickly, just show some cops some Ninoys and they will look the other way. There are lots of crooks in uniform, just make sure the one who catches you is one of them. Good luck!

Laws are harsh.
Prison life is harsher. You might come out of your prison term a queen, no matter how short your stay. That prospect should be more than enough deterrent.
