Maybe you got the wrong RAM. Most motherboards take a specific type of RAM, and can hold only so much. Look up your computer or motherboard from http://www.coastmemory.com or http://crucial.com

At this point, you might want a much faster computer with much more RAM. After investigating the limits; if you discover that you need alot more RAM that your computer can't take, you will find that it would be best to BUY a whole new computer; instead of new RAM new CPU, new Motherboard and other components.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

It has nothing to do with the processor, only with the RAM. MAke sure you buy the correct type of RAM. Your motherboard will support only a certain type (DDR, DDR2, DDR3, something like that) and may not support dual channel, which it sounds like you are trying. Three things you need to verify. How much the motherboard can handle in total. IT should be more than 1 GB but maybe not. Check the manual that came with the computer or motherboard. Second, it will support one type and you may have bought a different type. That wont work so verify that with the manual and the RAM modules. Third, you may have it in a dual channel conifiguration, which your mobo may not support. Check the manual for that also. Lastly, it may be a dead stick. You will know its dead if you can get it to work with just the one stick in there. Also, the link below is to see if the RAM is compatible with your mobo.

More Ram is always better especially for gaming, graphics and programs that are very ram intensive.
I have never heard the expression to much Ram for the computer.
Some computers (Older) are limited as to the amount of ram they are capable of handeling.
This can be checked by the manufacture of the computer in question, It is also a good practice, to add matched sets of Ram.
It may be that your particular computer will ony handle
2 at 128 or
2 at 256 or
2 at 512, check with whoever made your computer or get out the paperwork on the computer it should tell you.

U need a fast processer. i would recommend a duo. this is my scenario example. i u have a factory and the machine(RAM) can package 5 boxes a minute but only 10 boxes an hour are coming in(processer) ur not gonna get anywhere. same thing the other way around. if u have 2000 boxes coming in an hour and can only package20 per hour. ur not gonna get anywhere. they have to sinc. get more RAM and a faster processer and u'll be ok

The limit on ram is set by the motherboard, also the ram needs to be compatible with the board.

You can never have too much memory in a PC...unless your motherboard does'nt support no more than 512mb. Time to buy a new board. Good luck!

Your motherboard may only support 1GB. You need to replace your motherboard, which judging by your question may be too much for you. Best of luck!
