I have pain in my left unla when waking up that spans about 2 inches. Pain began about 2 weeks ago. Any ideas on what might cause this to occur? The pain seems to ease off greatly when I am awake, but returns upon waking. I am not involved in sports or have had no injuries. My only pre-existing conditions are hypothyroid and insulin dependent type 2 diabetes. (injected insulin). Thank you in advance.

You may be sleeping in a position that is causing this problem. You can cause ulnar nerve entrapment while sleeping by bending your arm too far or by putting too much weigh on your arm or your shoulder. If this seems like a possibility, try to avoid sleeping on the side where your arm hurts, and also avoid bending the arm more than 15-20 degrees.
