Depends on your item.
Studies show that if it is a small household item, then white usually makes people desire it more. and therefore spend more money on it.

A Hardware item, you want a rugged background like camo or black.

Electronics? Use a piece of plecksi glass with a light along one side so it shoots through the whole sheet of glass.

I would def. have to say red and white. We are used to seeing these to colors in conjunction with a stop sign, something that catches your eye and "asks" you to stop and look. I shop way to much and I did not have to think twice about this answer!

If there were one, everyone would use it. It's probably different for different products. I once learned in advertising class that green is good, except for bread.

at cvs, we usually use red or yellow. they tend to stand out and catch people's eye.
