More specifically, fiberglass tubs and showers.

I have two weapons in my arsenal for fiberglass:

1. Magic Erasers. These things are great. You wet them down with a little hot water, rub and voila'! No more stains or dirt. They work on fiberglass, painted walls, wooden floors, vinyl, tile, grout. No odors either or nasty hands afterwards.

2. For cases where I need a little bit more "oomph" I add soft scrub to my magic eraser. I especially like the kind with bleach, but that's up to you.

I use Soft Scrub and a terrycloth rag. I don't think you can scratch fiberglass with plastic brushes. So that's what i'd do. Soft scrub w/ plastic scrub brush.

My husband uses a mildrew remover (industrial strength from the JW Industrial supply store) that works really well. For the shower door, as soon as he's finished drying himself, he uses that towel to wipe down the door because our water forms ugly deposits.

I use a 3m sponge with the green side to clean my bathroom surround, and it looks great, no scratching.
