Hey, I spilled a protein shake on my carpet, tried to clean it out twice but the stink still remains. I[m scaring my family with the smell thats coming out of my bedroom. Frankly, when I forget that I spilled a protein shake, sometimes I'm scared to go in the bedroom myself. Help. Don

Get some Nature's Miracle at the pet store like Petco or Petsmart. Spray it really well on the spill area. You might even want to pour it on the area so it soaks into the carpet and gets down into the pad too. This stuff contains enzymes that "eat" organic materials like urine and fecal matter so I'm sure it would work on your protein shake. As it dries the smell may seem to get worse, but once it is dry the smell should be gone. If not then follow the directions on the bottle and apply it again, only more thoroughly next time.

We have a special little machine for cleaning spots and small carpet areas. If it were mine, I'd put some febreeze in the machine, along with the soap and go over it several times. If that didn't work, I'd spray it with Resolve and used the carpet machine on it several more times. Otherwise, I'd get a rug to cover that area. Maybe that would help keep the smell under the rug and not in the air.

Sounds scary!! LOL! Just think what it must do to your STOMACH! 8>)
Anyway, to clean this I HIGHLY recommend a product called FRESH N CLEAN. It is sold in my local supermarket, but you can go to
WWW.LAMBERTKAY.COM
to see where you can get it in your area.
It's made by Arm & Hammer, and it's in the pet aisle. It's made for getting rid of pet smells/stains/odors, but works great for other stuff, too. I had recommended it to my friend because her puppy was having accidents. She dropped an open bottle of baby formula on her dining room rug and the STENCH was horrible. After trying everything, she decided to give the FRESH N CLEAN a shot.....6 mos later and no smell OR stain.
I'd try it....and keep some handy if you're going to eat and drink in your room!!! LOL!
GOOD LUCK!

You are probably going to have to use a "steam" carpet cleaner (from the grocery other store) to soak the area and suck the solids out. Then you need to check further, but one of the enzime products that is sold for cleaning up odor after pets pee, poop, or mark or something similar is probably a good idea. We have used them at our house and no odor is there afterward.

Dilute some laundry detergent that is specifically designed to remove protein stains. I know Era is one, and so is Tide. Spritz the area with the detergent solution and then blot with damp paper towels. You may have to repeat the process a couple of times, but it should do the trick.
