Quite frankly after being mixed up with America for so long I don't think we've got any friends left. What exactly has America done for Britain?

The refused to enter the first world war until we'd been fighting on our own for three years and then claimed they'd won it.

They refused to enter the second world war until forced in by Japan bombing Pearl Harbour after we'd been fighting alone for well over two years and even after that they would have ignored the European war if Hitler hadn't declared war on them.

British scientists played a major part in the Manhattan Project but after the war the Americans refused to give us any information to aid us in developing nuclear capability ourselves.

They tried to stop us invading the Falklands in case it interfered with their trade interests in south America.

They threatened to take us to the International Court because we tried to help Commonwealth banana growers on the grounds that it damaged America's economy.

They pulled us into an illegal war in Iraq and it will probably take us years and cost us billions before we get out.

They refuse to take any action to curb the effects they're having on the climate despite Blair's special friendship with Bush.

And so on and so on.......

France: Fought with us in the Crimea. Stood with Britain from the start in two World Wars, was with us in Suez, gave us the technological intelligence that helped us win the Falklands War.

Built Concorde with us. Provide an excellent range of hypermarkets and the Channel ports.

America isnt our best friend, a good friend wouldnt ask us to do things that we are unhappy about doing, they just bully us!

This year, England managed to pay off the "dedt" we owed America for their "assistance" during World War 2 - Some friendship!!!

England has a few mates, just not anyone special....lets face it, as a nation we tried to run the planet with The British Empire... now we no longer have that power we're bound to get a bit picked on....the least we deserve!!!!

a lot of people would disagree with me here, but our best friend is Europe .America does nothing for us or for anyone other than itself .The UK and Europe ,If we put the petty arguing to one side have very similar values ,we can`t separate our selves from Europe because we are European and whatever our differences at least we treat each other as equals unlike our "friendship " with America where its a case of when they say jump we`re expected to say how high .

Norway. They haven't invaded us since the heyday of the Vikings. Plus they present London with a huge Christmas Tree every year.

Kaz, it's Britain, not England. Are you sure you're British ?

We have lots of allies left in the world but the US is still the most important.

We've got lots of friends. That's why the American government likes us as an ally so much!
