No its because I saw this creepy documentary on how lightning can kill you no matter where you are or what your doing with all these descriptive, true life tales of being hit by lightning...... now I can't stand thunder because it lets me know there is lightning.

While absolutely possible, consider this:
I LOVE thunderstorms, but last year a HUGE storm came through my area (note: I don't live anywhere where tornados or hurricanes take place) and the thunder was SO LOUD and the lightening so HUGE it scared me awake. My apartment shook with the sound of the thunder -- it was like the sky was falling. And the lightening lit up my entire place -- it covered the sky with it's tentacles and seemed so close it would certainly touch me if I went outside.
At the time, I was living tucked under a small hill/mountain and storms love to hug on mountains. It was the scariest thing ever -- yet I was absolutely mesmerized and TO THIS DAY I still LOVE a big Thunderstorm. It's a thrill for me, ESPECIALLY after having experienced that one night the storm almost brought down my apartment!!!
I also LOVE scary movies, scary rides, to be scared in general....so, there you go. :)

I'm kinda frightened of them now, though I never used to be until recently. It wasn't because of a bad storm related thing I've been through, but it's that I always used to listen to my iPod during thunderstorms. I would even sit out on my patio and watch the storm listening to my iPod, but now hearing about several people being struck by lightning while wearing iPods during storms has scared me a bit...Lol

I was frightened of thunderstorms because my grandmother taught me to be afraid of them. She babysat me during the day (while my parents worked) from the time I was born until I went to school full time which was first grade.
Whenever I was at her house and there was a storm, she told me we had to hide until the storm was over. She would get in a closet with me which made it even creepier. Because we couldn't see the lightening, the boom of thunder came unexpectedly and the both of us would jump.
Then, when it sounded like the storm was passing, she would go out and see if it was okay to come out and leave me alone in the closet. I had to stay there until she said it was okay to come out.
My little story has a happy ending!
I have forgiven her for this and I eventually outgrew my fear.

When i was 5 i was told lightning never strikes twice in the same place!
Later that night as i slept soundly thunder hit the antenna on top of our chimney!
I felt safe because i thought it would not strike again. As naive as i was when i was 5.
So i went outside and sat on the roof, within 5 minutes i was hit by 16 thunder bolts! It was so sore. I ran away from home knowing my parents lied to me and did not love me,
i got addicted to ciggarettes at 5 and by age 6 i was a on top of the columbian cartel drugs and weapon smuggling acticvities.
Age 7 i was addicted to crack and i sold more drugs and more weapons to pay for it, sooner or later i was gonna be caught, was just a matter of time.
Age 8 we got picked up in seattle robbing a bank, i went down for 2 in the juvenile detention centre where i met babba, the fattest kid in the place but a friend none the less.
We planned a jail escape. We slowly cut the bars at night with wire from our mattresses. Then the big night came. Our escape!! our weapons were broken pieces of the trays from the lunch room, small enough to hide! sharp enough to cut.
i was 9 when i 1st attempted to break outta the joint. I killed 6 guards..... failed our escape and im now the youngest person on death row......

I remember a thunderstorm starting as my mother and myself were leaving my grandparents after a visit. It is the sudden flash of lighting that scares me. I must be outgrowing this fear because whenever a storm is forecast, I want it to happen!

I dont know i was never frightened except jump sky high when it suddenly goes BANG!! but now i get scared maybe because they seem to be more violent with real thick lightening bolts how you would imagine them to be in the days of the dionsaurs

I know it is why I am afraid. My mom was a kid in Holland during WWII and she was scared to death that she was being bombed every time we had a storm and she would wake us up and gather us under a table...and she would shake until dad got home.Dad tried to make us brave by sitting with us on the porch and explaining what it was....but i still quiver like my mom.
