Pro-life

Pro-life. One person wrote that pro-choice is not pro-abortion. I disagree. Pro-choice means you would consider abortion. If you consider abortion and act on abortion, then that means you are for abortion. Use your head. Abortion equals death of a baby. A human life. It's murder, and one day you will answer to God for that decision. Adoption is a better alternative. Furthermore, this is not a decision for just the woman. It takes 2 to make a baby. The father has just as much say as the woman. Yes, it is the woman's body. However, the life of an individual is at stake. If the father wants the child, then you should keep the child. After all once your decision is made, there is no going back. Don't do something foolish you will later regret. There is an easy solution. Practice safe sex. Use your head people. You should only get pregnant if that is your purpose. Yes things happen like meds affecting birth control, broken condoms, whatever... Just be safe and you greatly reduce your chance for having to face this situation. Life is a beautiful thing. Don't waste it. I am a father of 2 beautiful girls, and I would never consider anything but pro-life.

I am pro-choice. I am not anti-abortion. I am not anti-baby. I am not any of those things. I just have a problem with the people that frame the argument.

The framing of the argument was done by the Christian right, and you can tell by the way it's presented.

Pro-life. It's antithesis is pro-death, but that's not what the people that oppose the people that use Christian ideology as their basis for argument are for. We are for choice. It's your body, and if you do not wish it, you may terminate your pregnancy up to a certain point.

Pro-life? Says who? What's so sacred about life? We create new life all over the place. People die every day. What is so sacred about that? Death is everywhere.

Life starts at conception? You aren't a human until I can look you up in the White Pages.

Conception is defined as when a sperm fertilizes an egg. Well, women have lots of fertilized eggs if they are present after ejaculation, but not all will make it to the uterine wall. The rest are just floating around there. Maybe they make it, maybe they don't. The ones that don't get flushed out of their bodies during menstruation.

Those are fertilized eggs going onto that sanitary napkin, you serial killer! Stop killing our babies, you murderer!

My favorite is from Bill Hicks, and I will paraphrase.

"If you are so committed to this notion about life being sacred, then do me a favor. Stop blocking medical clinics, OK? Lock arms, sing Kumbaya, and block cemetaries."

Like any meaningful worthwhile debate ,you must define your terms.

What do you mean by pro-life?

Many people including some religious groups ,philosophers, doctors, scientists etc believe that life only exists if the being is VIABLE .I.E. Can exist on it's own outside the uterus etc.

This stupid phrase "Pro life or pro-choice" IS DE FACTO erroneous and in a very biased manner ASSUMES THAT LIFE DOES NOT BEGIN WHEN THE BEING IS VIABLE BUT AT SOME EARLY POINT IN THE UTERUS.

Given this one can be both PRO-life and PRO-Abortion without one iota of contradiction.

You like many will chuckle at what YOU think is a meaningless distinction but it is in FACT a profound difference .

This filthy presumptuous phrase "Pro-Life" posits as a fact that abortionists are ANTI-LIFE which is pure un-adulterated garbage.

Pro Choice. And christian conservatives should be also. Still haven't figured out why they care about the unborn while it's in the womb but after the baby is born they forget about it. For example, Bush is threatening to veto a bill that would add 35 - 50 million to the CHIP program yet is pro life. You know we could pay for that 50 million and have 30 million left over if we weren't giving 80 million to Palestine for security.

You should carefully define what you mean by "Pro-life" and "Pro-choice." Most people who oppose abortion would find it acceptable in a few instances. Most people who favor abortion would find it unacceptable in certain instances. Depending on how you ask the question, you could call about 95% of Americans either pro-choice or pro-life.
