No,they use a roller chain just like the rear drive chain,,except much smaller.
Timing Chains on bikes are basically "Lifetime " parts.
There's no Replacement Schedule for them,,like timing belts on cars have.
Maintenance on Bike timing chains is just an occasional adjustment.
The things Do eventually wear out,,,but normally it's only after extended mileage.
Very rare few motorcycles use an actual belt for timing,,,
I cannot even think of one right now.
Most use Roller Chain,,a few use "silent chain"/HYVO type chain.
similar to American V8 Car timing chain.

All Honda ST1100's use a belt! I would include the ST1300 too since it uses the same inline engine design as the 1100.
The timing chain can and does wear. Periodic adjustments to the tensioner will reduce noise issues. When the tensioner can no longer take up the slack in the chain, it is time to replace not only the chain, but the guides, tensioner(s) and perhaps even the sprockets & camshafts too.

OHV (OverHead Valve) engines will have either a timing chain or a belt. Most push rod engines are gear driven.
