Do you think the U.S. government purposely allowed the attack on Pearl Harbor to galvanize Americans against the Japanese, and by association, the Germans? Do you see any similarities to 9/11?

Ah, another conspiracy buff. Not in my darkest dreams could I imagine any American President deliberately allow events as Pearl Harbor or 9/11 to happen under their watch.

Every time there is a national tragedy some people start talking about conspiracies. And after deep research, computer graphics, etc., all have been proven false.

Sure, maybe mistakes had been made. These mistakes have been given the light of day. People read all sort of things into these mistakes.

I enjoy reading about these oddities, but if there is enough proof to prove no conspiracy I am satisfied.

No they did not allow it to happen. The US government was expected a future confrontation with Japan, was was expecting it to be political first, possibly military later. And they weren't expecting anything for some time yet. And it was expected to escalate slowly.

Also, if they had purposely allowed something like that to happen, I really doubt they would have left their guard down at Pearl quite that badly. And, the association between the Japanese and the Germans was tenuous at best. Hitler wanted to declare war on the US in order to get Japanese help against Russia. But the Japanese had been bloodied by the Russians already and did not want to fight them again if they could avoid it.

I don't know. But Japan declared to attack to Pearl Harbor ahead of time. And Japan also made an efforts toward the establishment of peace. Some TV shows, not only in Japan but also in the US, have ever reported this issue in modern days. If the documentary which was filmed in the US about this issue is correct, the records exist in both Japan and America as an official documents.

In answer to your two questions, (1) NO and (2) NO

In both cases there were rumblings that something might happen but there were certainly no details available. And if there had been I do not believe that the government would have allowed them to occur.

Hindsight is always 20/20 - just as detectives and forensic scientists can put together numerous individual pieces of evidence AFTER a crime and figure out who did it and why yet it is seldom that enough evidence is available BEFORE the commission of a crime to enable its prevention.

And conspiracy theories are the work of overactive imaginations that are not tempered by common sense - or by fanatics who have lost sight of reason.

I think that the U.S. government could have prevented either of those attacks if they had had any foreknowledge of the impact of the events. I think that the government knew that some type of attack was coming in both cases and probably could have pinpointed the location if it had desired but (in keeping with the great American ego) underestimated the ability of the enemy expecting enough damage to 'justify' retaliation but not expecting nearly the amount of damage that hapenned.

I do not think that either of these were conspiracies or that the government would want to allow either one, and I think that in the aftermath of each, the government has wished it had done more. The scale of the attacks had been forseen, I do not doupt that the government could have prevented them.

No, only conspiracy theories. Actually Japan didn't expect Germany to declare war on the US. Japan attacked the US but the declaration of war between the two countries came late which wasn't what many Japanese wanted. 9/11 was done by a cowardly group who wish to control people into doing what they want by such actions (worked in Spain).

No. The attack on Pearl Harbor was patterned after a similar attack launched by the British on the Italian fleet at Taranto, Italy about a year earlier. The plan for the Pearl Harbor attack was built on the results of a U.S. Naval exercise conducted in 1932. A report on that exercise was published in "Naval Proceedings", the professional Naval journal in 1936. A copy of that article came into the hands of Minoru Genda in early 1937.
Though badly crippled in the intial attack, U.S. forces in Hawaii quickly rebounded and shot down about thirty aircraft. The absence of U.S. carriers in Pearl Harbor at the time of the attack, coupled with the presence of U.S. submarines underway convinced Admiral Nagumo to have his Combined Northern Fleet carrier strike force depart the area and return to Japanese waters.

That is a common conspiracy theory.

Was the sinking of the USS MAINE allowed to use as an excuse to war against Spain?

Don't forget that five days after the attack on Pearl Harbor, Adolf Hitler, on December 12th, declared war against the U.S. That was totally unforseen!

So the answer to your leading question is: NO.
