2 Beeps: Parity circuit failure

Explanation: The parity circuit is responsible for generating and checking the parity bit on the system memory when parity checking is used. This circuitry is not working properly.

Diagnosis: This code usually means a problem with either the system memory or the motherboard.

Those beeps are your systems speaker telling you a problem when your computer tried to POST. POST is your Power On Self Test, it's testing you RAM, CPU and many other critical system hardware. If you can describe the beeps I could better help you with the problem. But I can tell you it's most likely something to do with either the RAM or the CPU. Either one could be fried or it may just need to be reseated.

Something is wrong with the POST aka Power On Self Test. The beeps is the Post telling you that there is something wrong with the computer. I will try to provide links to major companies POST keys.

Are you sure it is 1 short and 2 long? If it is 1 long and 2 short, that is a video card problem, try reseating it. You could also try reseating your RAM or taking one stick out at a time and see if it boots at all.

Hum... Did you try to boot with windows cd??

if you don't have it make a cd of ubuntu.
ubuntu.com

and it will at least boot.

but it really look like two thing : a hard disk crash. (sorry fo your file)

or your video card is not probely insert.
open the computer (turn it off of course)
find your video card and push on it. you will hear a click if it's not probely insert.

Good luck!

Don't Panic! Check that all the leads on the inside of the computer are correct... Sometimes this sort of thing can happen when a harddrive, RAM stick, Fan (particularly the one for the processor) come loose... Obviously if you're not confident doing this kind of thing, ask someone who is.

I had the same problem before. I ended up replacing the bios chip thinking thats the problem, but it turned out being the video card, so if you can, try putting in a different video card.

find out who manufactured the motherboard, go to their web-site and in support try to find the beep table. There you can find out what does the beeps mean.

Your computer is either one of two things. A lemon (defective unit) or if it is a dell, it is experiencing what happens to all dells after a two-year margin. The processor has a jump, and unlocks it connection with the windows OS. Yours might be experiencing this early if it is new. Call dell and ask them to guide you through the steps.
