LET him??? Bonds can do whatever he wants. The Giants can't force him to hit a homerun at home.

It is not a question of the Giants letting Bonds do anything. Bonds plays according to a set schedule and the team will play in LA tonight and will be in San Diego for a weekend series before returning home for seven games. So, if you look at this schedule he could break the record on the road.

I think the more interesting question might be that, if Bonds were to be sitting out a lot of road games, would Selig do what then commissioner Bowie Kuhn did when the Braves tried to hold Aaron out of games so that he could hit #715 at home. I have no doubt that the Giants would rather have him break the record at home, and I think that Selig would as well, because i don't think he wants peoples memories of this event to be that he got booed when he did it. I'm sure if they want him to break it at home, they will come up with some sort of minor injury as an excuse to keep him out of a few games.

bonds himself will probably hold back from hitting home runs while the giants are on the road. he probably wants to break the record in San Fran because that is the ONLY place where he will be cheered when the record is broken.

would you want the memory of you breaking a significant baseball record to be people booing you as you cross the plate?

Well, it's not a matter of "let"! He plays tonight @LA and then three games @SD. I doubt he would hit one at PETCO. He then has a seven game home stand after that. I believe he will break it in that timeframe. He may tie tonight but he won't break it on the road.

I actually wouldn't mind the crash course with the Braves in Atlanta. Have him break it in Aaron's house. Aaron couldn't make an excuse for not being there then! If Bonds does make it here without the record I will get tickets and cheer him on if he did happen to hit one.

I doubt that the manager or the owner will, and if they do, all the people in San Fransisco and their fans are gunna be really mad.
