Hey, I'm a 5 year Alto sax player and I'm wondering if there are any good duets for two players of about equal experience to play. I've been looking around and nothing really has cought my attention.

Thanks in Advance

There are tons of great duets. A lot are transcriptions of violin/violin or similar classical instruments, but they are great to play. Rubank published two books (one easy/int, one advanced) of similar saxophone duets that are challenging and beautiful. Go to a music store and ask them. Depending on the store, they may have some, if not, go to something like www.jwpepper.com/eprint and look at some of their duets.

Technically any song you care to play can be made into a duet. You can trade 4's or 8's or what have you, harmonize on parts, have one sax play the bass line while the other plays the melody and trade solos. The possibilities are endless.

Personally, I think Take 5 would make an excellent Alto duet

I always found that the best source for this information (I played the french horn for eight years, and my sis played the alto sax) is either your band instructor, or your local music store. Often the owner will be a huge music-buff, and be able to give you some good suggestions and/or resources. Good luck! Duets are always fun. ^_^
