I'm based in South West Wales and I'm looking for a shop where I can buy or order in a telescope in the £400 - £500 region.

All shops I've seen online including Argos and Jessops either have telescopes under £200 or over £800.

Where are the happy mediums?

Any advise would be great...

There is a shop here in norfolk called Cley Spy and its at a place called glandford nr holt. Telephone number is 01263 740088 or 01263 741597. Give them a call as i dont know whether they have a web site but they have a very good name here and may be able to help you. They sell all kinds of binoculars and telescopes. Hope this helps you.

Reputable camera shops, especially those who still sell high quality film-style cameras alongside digital ones, would be your best bet.

A big shopping centre, if there's one anywhere near you, would be a good place to start. One tip: Please don't try to 'overload' your telescope with magnification; about 50x per centimetre (around 125x per inch) of diameter is optimum, you will start to see quite significant loss of image quality if you go beyond twice this power.

Good luck!

I bought one for my Granddaughter and was disappointed as they live near a large city and the light makes it difficult to see.
