I find "animosity" to be a strong term to use. More like annoyance. Canadians in South Florida are nicknamed Snow Birds which automatically places them in the "can't drive for their life and are slow as hell" category. They are also looked at as cheap because they are willing to drive ALL THE WAY from Canada to South Florida. WOW. Get a plane ticket and call it a day!

I live right on the border with Canada and spend a lot of time there. I really haven't noticed any real animosity between us, at least not on a regular basis.

until 9/11 the American/Canadian border was known as being the longest undefended border in the world.

There's no animosity.. heck if it wasn't for us trying to kick Britain out of there .. and the Canadians burning our Capital as a result... it would have never been named the White House.

Thank you Canada

:P

Because teams from the Southern US keep winning the Stanley Cup. And because many Americans don't know what the Stanley Cup is.

Both sides think that they're superior, even though, truth be told, they really aren't that different. Well, except that Canadians like hockey and stronger beer and Americans like football and "water", but other than that....

I have lots of Canadian friends, no animosity there, I have noticed from that most of them don't approve of the Bush administration, but who does right now?

Intellectual jealousy. It is Canadians who have animosity. Americans really don't care.
