One UK or US shoe size increment represents a difference of 8.5mm. US men's, US women's and UK sizes (same for men and women) all start from a different "base point".

One Continental shoe size increment is 6.7mm and the base point is the same for men, women and children.

Shoe sizes in the Far East probably are the easiest in the world, since they are literally just the length of the foot (in centimetres or millimetres).

I just thought it was something someone made up and has no real meaning, like women's clothing sizes. Men's pants sizes makes (inches around waist x inches of stride). Women's sizes and shoes sizes make no sense and vary from one company or style so widely that who knows what size they really are. My shoe size varies from a 12 to a 15. My better half can wear jeans any size from 3 to 10!
