"fat chance" is more sarcasm if u think about it..welcome to the complexities of the english language.

its like saying "irregardless"..it makes sense yet doesnt.

Fat chance means no chance of something happening and slim chance means there's a slight chance of something happening.

Definition of THUS (adv. formal) 1. in this way; as indicated 2. accordingly; as a result or inference 3. to this extent; so [thus far, thus much] I'd prefer to see the sentence where "thus" should be replaced by "this shows that", but a comparison of "this shows that" with "thus" leads me to suspect that your biology teacher is drawing your attention to a grammatical error, very likely an incomplete sentence.

"Slim chance" is literal. "Fat chance" is akin to saying "that's just great" when something bad happens.

To me 'fat chance ' means -aint gonna happen
Slim chance meas it could happen.
