It wasn't created due to the holocaust it was given back to the Jews. Isreal existed in Biblical times.

No. If you had actually done a tiny bit of reading on the topic, you would know that the dream of returning to Israel - formerly called Judea - has been a big part of the Jewish culture for thousands of years.
Zionism as a movement - the attempt to revive Israel - did not just suddenly start because of the Holocaust. It existed long, long before; that's why for so long Jews always have said 'Next year in Jerusalem' at celebrations and holidays etc.
The Holocaust did, however, make a difference, of course. It showed that the Jews did not just want, but desperately NEEDED that one tiny land where they could be safe, given that they sure as hell couldn't be guaranteed safety anywhere else!
You should also note that there have been jews living in what is now Israel for FOUR THOUSAND YEARS. The original 'Palestinians' were Jews! 19th century travellers would return from that part of the world and document that it was Jews living there. Mark Twain for example, said: 'Apart from jews, there are only a few wandering Arab nomads there'.
The fact that jews have lived there for thousands of years, and that they transformed the area from desert into a lush and beautiful home, proves that it wasn't just because of the Holocaust. Jews were there in that area for long, long, long before world war two.

Israel was created in spite of the Holocaust not because of it.
As for the what it gives to survivors, yes it is pathetic and embarrassing.
I highly doubt it will stand in the face of public opposition.

Israel has existed for thousands of years. The Holocaust was caused by Germany and the world's apathy. German pays repriations. Israel has limited budgets and no natural resources - try calling Germany and ask them for more money. Leave Israel alone.
