sometimes if you wear both it works alot better. but remember with a tampon you can only leave it in for a few hours and you have to take it back out. on the back of a tampon box theres instructions on how to use one. i find it easiest if you sit on the toilet with your legs open. at the bottom of your "lips" closest to your butt, not the front. place it in. when you put it in you push it back towards your bum kinda, not up towards your stomache. sometimes you have to wiggle it a little and twist it to make it go in smoother. goodluck

well when im heavy i use a tampon and a pad just in case i do bleed over but if u can cinvince ur mom to let u wear a tampon tampax sport is the best i think
tell her that it is summer time and you want to swim and u cant do that without a tampon plus when school comes around they are so much easier to hide from view and way quieter to open cause im assumbing that you dont want people to know that ur on ur period so tell ur mom all of this stuff and i hope everything works out good
good luck

Try again, you will eventually get it.
Yes, it will help. I usually wear a tampon and a thin pad for the first 2 days. Just don't leave the tampon in for over the recommended time. While you will usually be fine if you leave it in, you can get a bacterial infection (common) or TSS (rare).

The packs usually have instructions - will just be practice.
For the first few days you may well have to use panty liners as well, remember tampons are smaller than pads so if Ur really heavy may have to change more often whilst heavy.
Mayb have chat with ur mum - so that she can understand why u wish to go over to using them.

yes, using a tampon does help sometimes, esspecialy at school. but instead you should just change your pad every 2-3 hours so it won't "overflow" since your mom won't let you wear a tampon. If you really find tampons better than tell her that it makes you feel better and more secure. good luck!

i have the same problems, yes a tamon works wonders for heavy peroids but you still need pads at night and i suggest liners even with the tampon in so if it does leak you will know before everyone else does. when you buy tampons it explains on how to insert them, i suggest tampax pearl they go in pretty easy. if you are a first timer and a virgin it might sting a bit to take the larger ones out so start with a normal sized one.

To help on over bleeding, drink more water and less caffeine, and exercise as you normally would, your body will hit a norm. As for tampons, read the pamphlet, there is a disease that you can get from them. I wouldn't make a habit of using them. Use them only if you must, swimming or water parks, things like that.I won't let my 14 yr old wear them either and after explaining the risks, she chose not to.Your mom has years of experience with these things ask her about the risks.

well a tampon is just the same as a pad(except were u put it!) so just try a different brand of pads and when school starts just buy a tampon out of thoese machines and then feel around and you will find your period whole i guess!!!

my mom doesn't let me wear one either and im 17.
resort to really thick pads. i usually double my pads at night to make sure i don't bleed through.
your mom is making a good choice though. tampons can cause disease and they are sometimes designed for people who have had children or already have their heymen broken.
anyway, if you really are set on using them, read the instructions on the pack.

If you use tampons, don't get the ones desgined for extra heavy flow. These are usually intended for women who have had children and their vaginas have been stretched a bit. I haven't had children and those tampons hurt!!! Use the ones intended for light flow.
