I would wait--you still have plenty of time to buy.
I always suggest buying baby things around 7-8 months. It's a way to get REALLY excited and participate in planning and furnishing the nursery and such.
Plus I wouldn't buy EVERYTHING right now. If money is tight, all you need is a crib and a carseat. That's it.
Strollers are great, but chances are you won't be using one until the baby hits 3 months. High chairs are great as well, but you won't need one until the baby is at least 4 months. Get where I'm going?
Get 1 jumbo pack of size 1 diapers and 1 jumbo pack of size 2 diapers; ALWAYS keep a size up around.
But right now I would concentrate on planning it and finding the best deals so when you DO buy you know where to go. Research the best and safest car seat, etc.

Yes and no. I know that you are feeling 'anxious' about 'being ready' to welcome your new baby into your home ... but right now you would be best off 'resting' and 'doing normal stuff' (work, play, exercise, etc.) Wait until you are about 35 week pregnant and you'll 'see' what I mean ... every mother goes through a 'nesting urge' around the 35th week ... which includes the 'need' to 'feather the nest' ... and if you buy stuff NOW you'll have way too much by the time the baby is here, because you'll not be able to 'help yourself' when it comes to 'shopping' right before the baby comes. So ... get a 'few things' and put them into a 'trunk' or 'closet' and 'look at them occasionally' ... but save your 'real shopping' for right before you give birth. I've even waited until 'after' the baby came, and got just the 'barest essentials' before ... it was so much fun 'trying on' the clothes and stuff (actually just 'holding them up' to see how they'd look) when I FINALLY GOT the 'redheaded daughter' I always wanted ... I had two boys, and had all of their 'boy stuff' ... a friend had one boy and wanted a girl so bad she'd got all 'girl stuff' and had a boy ... we 'traded' in the hospital where we met ... and we became 'best of friends' because of our baby's being 'birthday twins.'

I am also 19 weeks and my husband & I haven't bought baby items yet.
We have been doing lots of research on car seats, cribs, chainging tables, and highchairs. This should help us with our financial budget for the bigger & expensive items.
We will probably wait until winter clothes are out since she will be born in December. I't wouldn't hurt to pick up a few items as time goes by :0)

It's never too early to buy baby stuff. As far as clothes, bedding, etc--I'd wait until I knew the sex. Babies are expensive, and buying everything in the last 2 or 3 months as some would suggest, would just be too hard on me financially. Start as soon as you'd like so you can spread it out.

I'm 22 weeks and about after a week of finding the sex I bought some things. If you are really sure of the sex go ahead and go at it! If not sure then I would buy yellows and greens. I bought w/my first pregnancy and this one early. I didn't go get everything but I did buy stuff if it was cute or on sale or whatever. Congrats!

No. I am waiting until I hit 13 weeks, 2nd trimester, but 19 is not too early. My Mom was buying as soon as we found out, 5 weeks. : ) From what everyone tells me, you need to start buying, so you don't have to get it all at once. There is a lot and it is not cheap.
good luck and congrats.

Heck no it isn't!! I am currently 18 weeks and have already begun picking up baby things here and there. Why wait? You will need to get them anyway. And I would rather go shopping NOW while I still have the energy than wait until I am 7 or 8 moths along and too tired.

I registered for my baby shower around this time. It is a good thing I did because my son ended up being almost 3 months early. By the time he came home from the hospital I had everything set up for him.

I would say that it depends. It might be easier for you to start buying now, that way you can buy a little at a time. For me, that was easier than waiting until the end, and having to spend a chunk of money. The only thing is, I got ALOT of stuff at my baby shower. So I was glad I didn't buy those things already. (Swing, highchair, bedding, that sort of thing)

No, because it will help you spread the costs if you buy little things here and there until Baby comes - 9 months is a nice amount of time to spread bills over, and organize the nursery.
