Memory- 2GB ram, preferrably 120 GB hardrive.DVD reader/writer.GREAT graphics, not sure, there are tonnes of different types- NVIDIA is expensive.Good battery life -more then 3 hours atleast. Not tooo heavy, sturdy, I'll be carrying it around with me to University.Ermm..Card Readers,Webcam, wireless, bluetooth and the whole shebang of course...Can anyone recommend a good laptop, not super expensive- somewhere in the range of 799- 1000 canadian dollars preferrably.
Very confused in the processor section. It needs to be fast.
Whats the difference between-
Intel pentium Dual Core processor T2080
Intel Centrino Duo Processor tech with Intel Core Duo processor T2450
Intel centrino Duo processor tech with intel core 2 duo processor T5450...
and intel Celeron Processor 520...
I would find out myself, but if you guys know..well im lazy :).
Nvidia would be great too..but if theres a less costly substitute...

I've heard from some of you, NOT to get an intel processor. But the price differences are big.Intel is 1000+ $ and AMD is 899$
...so ...
Help on that.Which one is better for gaming? I know AMD is for mobility, which i need too..But need help. Thanks

DEFINITELY get an intel core 2 duo processor or something similar such as the amd turion 64x2. these are musts for laptops these days. also, for that price range, i'm not sure if you can get a brand new gaming laptop. i'd check out the dell xps m1330, it's light, 13.3" screen, don't think it has a docking solution though, so that might be a hindrance.

check out the inspiron 1420 or 1520. they come with an optional $100 upgrade from intel x3100 integrated graphics to an nvidia geforce 8400, supposedly one of the best graphics cards out for mobile computers. you'll definitely run more than 3 hours of battery life with the standard 6 cell, but i suggest getting the 9 cell.

again, i'm sure that celeron is the oldest, dual core the second, core duo the third, and core 2 duo is the fourth and latest one out.

what kind of games are you planning on playing? if you're gonna play 2003 or before games, integrated graphics should be fine for most of them. if you're gonna play something like bf2142, then you probably need the nvidia.

You might have to pay more for a gamer laptop. You get more power in a desktop per dollar spent. If all the processors are duo core, look for the one with the highest gigahertz(2.4 or 3.0 etc.) also the fastest one will have the biggest FSB( say 1000 as opposed to 533), and a bigger cache, say 2MB is way better than 1 MB. I go by numbers rather than brand name--there are a few major companies that make most of the internal parts.

Personally I like Dell. good name, decent support..
I'd also check out their Outlet for good deals. Mostly lease returns and returned orders, but there are a few dented or scratched models.. You got it in your pack, what's it matter if it's already broken in?? :) Link below

With regards to processing power, I can't help, but buy what's in your budget. Centrino is Intel's wireless technology, so it would have built in wifi. Celeron is their low power consumption model (of course missing some of the bells and whistles of the full model). Core Duo and Core 2 Duo are just different mods on their high-end chips. Core chip glued to another = duo, double that and get a core 2 duo. (guessing).
