Either joint compound or spackling are good for filling in those holes. Take it from me, I am in the building trade and also live in an apartment with a lot of things hanging on my wall. These can also be bought in small amounts. For small nail holes you can just apply with your finger.

Go to Home Depot, Lowes, or your local hardware store and get a small tub of pre mixed spackel and a putty knife. To apply, dig up a small amount on the p-knife and press it into the hole. Then while pressing, pull the blade of the knife down across the hole. This should leave a nice patch that will dry white. You may need to sand lightly and paint.

Joint compound or PolyFilla.
Polyfilla is the easiest to work with. It is available in small tubes that look like tooth paste tubes.
Squeeze a little in each hole and smooth with a putty knife.
Lightly sand and dab with matching paint.
Good Luck

I would use joint compound. Go to home depot and get a small bucket of joint compound and use your finger to fill the hole with the white pasty product.
