Your question can not be answered.
The subject of ghosts lies within the paranormal phenomena. This means that it exists beyond the range of normal experience. Outside the possibilities defined by natural or scientific laws. Paranormal phenomena are events or perceptions occuring without scientific explanation and are unable to be reproduced by scientific methods.
What we have in the subject of ghosts is anecdotal evidence. An informal account of what happened based upon what a person says. This leaves verification dependent upon the credibility of the person presenting the evidence.
One is then left to believe or disbelieve.
As Carl Sagan put it "extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence".

Ghosts are real. I'm one. I'll try to haunt you tonight, but I have a couple of other hauntings to do. I can fit you in at around 1 AM if that's convenient for you.

I like to think of ghosts as angels who come to visit for a short period.

The supernatural does not exist. There are no ghosts, ghouls, or demons. Neither are there any angels or deities.
Sorry. Suck it up, the way the rest of us did when we grew up.

I was a total doubter until I started seeing a young boy standing at the end of our hallway. I didnt say anything because I didnt want my family thinking I had lost it. Then one of my children came to me and asked who the boy was in the hallway. She described exactly what I had seen. We tried to think of young boys who had died recently and even called the family that we bought the house from. They told us the youngest son had been killed by another patient at the hospital. We invited a psychic to the house and she basically told us what we already knew. She saw a young boy at the end of the hallway. He wanted to know what we had done with his house. She said he meant no harm. He loved music.
She told us to start talking to him and tell him to cut out the nonsense. We did. We felt a little funny, but it worked.
